How TROPHY Works - Active protection for military vehicles

If you are in a tank or a troop transport and the enemy fires an anti-tank missile or RPG at you, you have a problem. These missiles are getting better and better at penetrating armor.

Now there is a new system that, mounted on the vehicle, can neutralize these threats. It is called TROPHY. The basic idea is simple: Identify the incoming missile in real time as it approaches, calculate the trajectory and then fire a big blast of shotgun-like pellets at it to destroy the missile mid-air.
