Crazy aircraft #39 - The Boeing Fuel Cell Airplane

The Boeing Fuel Cell airplane is powered by hydrogen, and is the first fuel cell vehicle to carry a human aloft:

It needs an extra boost from batteries to take off, but once aloft flies on hydrogen alone.

People are also experimenting with battery powered airplanes:

The problem is that the plane can only fly about an hour on a charge. The batteries are also incredibly expensive compared to a tank of gas right now.
