Interesting - The 150 MPG Loremo

The Loremo is an incredibly light (under 1,000 pounds), 1.5 liter diesel car that should get well over 100 MPG. It also has a number of unique design features. Here’s what the car looks like:

It is a common belief that heavy vehicles are exceptionally safe which is can be proved wrong easily. The heavier a vehicle, the more energy must be degraded in an impact. It is a vicious circle: manufacturers keep inventing new safety mechanisms, making the vehicles heavier and heavier in the process.

Formula 1provides us with the examples of the oppsite. Although these vehicles do not weigh in at much more than 500 kg they are able to withstand high-speed impacts with incredible safety potential. In the majority of the cases, even impacts at over 150 mph will leave the pilots unharmed.
